The Flavors of Napa Valley Vision Cellars-Mac McDonald is quickly becoming a legend in wine circles. This son of a Texas moonshiner and former staffer at Pacific Gas and Electric just couldn't escape his bootleggin' roots. Mac made his first bottle in 1996 and he's been perfectin his craft wever since. Vision Cellars features African-inpired art on its labels and a can-do spirit as big and hearty as its founder. The 2002 Chileno Valley Pinot Noir has a big, fruity nose adn a dry even finish. The 2002 Sonoma County Pinot Noir has a lighter body and sharper flavor than its Marin County cousin. It's also got tangy spice notes on the finish. The 2003 Gary's Vineyard Pinot Noir is out of the Santa Lucia highlands, with a bright pop on the palate and a spicy finish. The 2004 Rosella's Vineyard Pinot Noir is a deep , ruby color with lovely fruit notes and a smooth, easy finish. "I want to be close to the consumer," McDonald says of his heavy travel schedule. "I want to put a glass in your hand and hear what you think."
